Interval House of Hamilton (IHOH) Board of Directors Seeks Prospective Members
Interval House of Hamilton provides accessible and high quality care, system navigation support and advocacy to women, with or without children who are fleeing relationship violence/abuse. This advocacy is furthered through a focus on prevention, public education, male engagement in ending violence against women and community engagement and awareness.
The IHOH vision is to be an innovative leader providing compassionate care and sustainable, highly-integrated services in our quest for violence free lives for women, children and communities.
IHOH is seeking talented, engaged members of our community to join in the pursuit of this vision by participating as voluntary members on the Board of Directors.
Interval House of Hamilton is committed to fostering an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workforce. In extension, the Interval House of Hamilton Board recognizes that a diverse Board working in an inclusive environment will make superior and more innovative decisions, better serving the Interval House of Hamilton organization and consequently the population it serves.
Candidates should bring a range of skills and experience to the IHOH Boards of Directors, including, but not limited to those skills listed below. Prospective candidates for the Board will be considered based on equal weighting of the following criteria:
- Fit with the organizational vision and values;
- Alignment of experience and influence that represents value added to champion our strategic goals;
- Required skills and abilities to meet accepted good governance standards;
- Promotion of a diverse and inclusive environment and mindset.

- Strategic Planning & Visioning
- Governance Knowledge/Experience
- Experience with Partnerships
- Social Services Ethics
- Private Sector Management
As a minimum, board members should expect to devote approximately 4 to 5 hours per month of their time on board business to attend regular board and committee meetings and occasional organizational or board events. Board meetings are 8-10 times/year. The Board’s focus is on governance rather than operations. The duration of terms are for a minimum period of 3 years.
