Thank you to everyone who donated to help us raise the $28,000
needed to offset the costs of our flat roof replacement.
We have now reached our goal! Thank you!
Last year, the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) provided the majority of the funds needed to replace our flat roof. For this, we are truly thankful. Unfortunately, we were still short $28,000. We are also thankful for DeLuca Roofing and Lancaster Heating and Cooling for their work — they did a great job! We would also like to thank ArcelorMittal Dofasco for paying for, and replacing, our angled roof in 2016 through a generous grant.
Thanks to MCCSS for again providing additional funds to help top up the shortfall, as well as to the Hamilton Community Foundation and everyone who donated through our website and through our GoFundMe campaign, we were able to reach the goal. We are grateful for your generosity and helping us reach our goal so we can continue to safely shelter the women and children in our community who have experiencing abuse, violence or human trafficking.
Interval House of Hamilton provides free and confidential programs and services for women, with or without children, who have experienced abuse, violence or human trafficking. These include:
• Emergency Shelter
• Legal Advocacy
• Counselling & Support
• Prevention & Education
THE NUMBERS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES
• Last year the shelter was at 110% capacity
• 2,450 crisis calls were taken
• 2,500 safety plans were made
• 1,095 meals were prepared (meeting cultural and dietary needs)
• 817 women were referred to other emergency shelters due to capacity limitations
To add to this, we are now also facing the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, where rates of violence and abuse are increasing due to additional stress at home from job losses, isolation and financial strain. Shelters world-wide have seen an increase in women needing their help.
Your donations, no matter how small, can truly change and SAVE lives in your community.
